To get the turning points corresponding to maximum or minimum ,
let us differentiate the given function and equate to zero.
 
begin mathsize 14px style fraction numerator d y over denominator d x end fraction equals 3 space x squared space minus space 6 space x space space equals space 3 x left parenthesis space x minus space 2 space right parenthesis space equals space 0 end style
 
Turning points are x = 0 and x = 2
 
at x = 0 , function is  y(0) = 6 , maximum
 
at x = 2 , function is  y(2) = 2 , minimum
