Speed v of tip of minute hand, v = ω × r
 
where ω is angular speed of rotation and r is length of minute hand.
 
If T = 60 minute is time period of one rotation of minute hand , then
 
begin mathsize 14px style omega space equals space fraction numerator 2 straight pi over denominator 60 cross times 60 end fraction space equals space 1.745 space cross times space 10 to the power of negative 3 end exponent space r a d divided by s end style
Speed of tip v = 1.745 × 10-3 × 0.1 m/s = 1.745 × 10-4 m/s
