The difference between the two numbers is 7. Two times the smaller number added to the larger number gives 22. Find the two numbers.

Let the smaller number = x then the larger number = 7 + x
 
According to the condition, we get
 
2x + (7 + x) = 22
→ 2x + x = 22 - 7
→ 3x = 15
→   x = 5 = smaller number
the larger number = 7 + x = 7 + 5 = 12
 
Therefore, the two numbers are 5 and 12.
