Expert Answer
For destructive interference,
yn = (n+1/2) Dλ/d
The fourth order dark fringe of known wavlength of light falls in same place as that of second order bright fringe from unknown wavelength of light
We know that the bright fringe results from constructive interference,
i.e. yn = nλD/d
Thus,
( 3 + 1/2) × 400 D/d = 2 × λ2 D/d
Thus,
λ2 = (7/4) * 400 = 700 nm
Thus, unknown wavelength of light is 700 nm
