Solve a numerical of charge distribution

Expert Answer
Let the charges be Q1 and Q2 distributed over the two parts, but uniformly distributed.
F = kQ1(Q-Q1)/R2
As we can see the force is the function of Q1 only since Q, total charge and R, separation distance is consant.
dF/dQ1 = 0
k[-Q1 + (Q - Q1)]/R2 = 0
Q1 = Q/2
Hence Q2 = Q/2
