sir i have a question: find the equation of the ellipse whose axes are parallel to the cordinate axes having its centre at (2,-3) one focus(3,-3) and one vertex (4,-3)

Expert Answer:
distance between centre and vertex = semi length of major axis= a=2
distance between centre and focus = c =1
now c^2=a^2-b^2
or, b^2=4-1=3
b=3^(1/2)
therfor equation of ellipse: ((x-2)^2)/4 +((y+3)^2)/3 =1
