Let O be the vertex and AB be the latus rectum of parabola.
To find the area of triangle OAB.
By comparing the given equation with the standrad form y2=4ax.
We have, 4a = 12 that is a = 3
Now, AB = length of latus rectum = 4a = 12 units
Also length of perpendicular drawn from O on AB = a = 3 units
as the latus rectum passes through the focus.
So the area of triangle OAB = (1/2)*3*12 = 18 units2
