In the cartesian plane,
x-axis is called the horizontal axis
y-axis is called the vertical axis.
(-2, 3) lies in the second quadrant as x-coordinate is negative and y-coordinate is positive
(3, 0) lies on the x-axis as y coordinate is zero.
(3, 2) lies in the first quadrant as both x-coordinate and y-coordinate are positive
(-1, -1) lies in the third quadrant as both x-coordinate and y-coordinate are negative
(5, -1) lies in the fourth quadrant as x-coordinate is positive and y-coordinate is negative
