s can be seen from the solution diagram for the problem, the forces acting along any side of the triangle cancel each other since they are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.

So we can write,

F1 + F2 + F3 + F4 + F5 + F6 = 0

But  (F1 + F5) + (F2 + F3) + (F1 + F4) = 0

Resultant force on q + Resultant force on 2nd q + Resultant force on -q = 0
