(The diagramatic representation of how the light under goes partial total internal reflection can be understood with a similar diagram for the same in diamond )

-Air gets filled in a cracked glass.

-While travelling through the glass from the air, the light undergoes a partial total internal reflection within the crack.

-The totally reflected rays will be visible only from a particular direction.

-These rays will make it appear to be shining like a mirror.
