Minimum upward acceleration = ? 
Equation of motion for mass of block M, 
T - Mg =0 ... (1)
 
Equation of motion for mass of monkey m, 
T - mg =ma 
Thus, 
T = mg + ma ... (2) 
 
Substituting value for T from eq (1) in (2), we get, 
Mg  = mg + ma 
 
Thus,
