Expert Answer
Since the speed is constant V and the direction is not changing, therefore the net acceleration is zero.
For downward motion, the friction force will act in upward direction,
Net force = Weight - Buoyancy - Friction = 0
Mg = B + F
Now for upward motion, the friction force will act in downward direction,
Net force = Buoyance - Weight - Friction = 0
B = M'g + F .............(M', remaining mass after removal of some mass)
B - F = M'g
Therefore using the above two equation, we can find M-M', the mass removed,
And it is, 2F/g.
