Is nucellus sporophyte??? How????

The nucellus is a part of the inner structure of the ovule, forming a layer of diploid (sporophytic) cells immediately inside the integuments. It is structurally and functionally equivalent to the megasporangium. Nucellus is therefore considered as a sporophyte.
