CBSE Class 12-science Answered

If a material have a net positive charge equal to 10 raised to -6 coulomb. How many ELECTRONS have left the material?is the question and in my opinion the answer is 10 raised to -6 itself THAT IS NO.OF ELECTRONS(NEGATIVELY CHARGED) TRANSFERED IS EQUAL TO THE NO. OF PROTONS(pOSITIVELY CHARGED).BUT THE ANSWER WAS FOUND OUT BY USING THE FORMULA q = ne AND THE ANSWER WAS 10 RAISED TO 13.HOW CAN IT BE? can't get it!PLS ELABORATE.

The material has a charge of 10-6 C. This means a negative charge of the same magnitude has left the material. But we need to calculate the no. of these negative charges (i.e. no. of electrons).
So using the formula q=ne, we get n=1013.

We say that the negative charge that has left the material is -10-6 C and this charge was contained in 1013 no. of electrons. So, 1013 electrons have left the material.
