VAT = 8%

a) SP of TV = Rs. 13500

Let the original price = Rs. x

Then,

x + 18% of x = 13500

x plus 8 over 100 x equals 13500 x open square brackets 1 plus 8 over 100 close square brackets equals 13500 x open parentheses 108 over 100 close parentheses equals 13500 x equals fraction numerator 13500 cross times 100 over denominator 108 end fraction equals R s. space 12500

b) SP pf shampoo = Rs. 180

Let original price of shampoo = Rs. y

Then,

y + 8% of y = 180

y plus 8 over 100 y equals 180 y open parentheses 108 over 100 close parentheses equals 180 y equals fraction numerator 180 cross times 100 over denominator 108 end fraction equals R s. space 166.67

If VAT is double, that is, VAT = 16%

Then,

SP of TV = 12500 + 16% od 12500=12500 + 2000 = Rs. 14500

SP of shampoo = 166.67 + 16% of 166.67 = 166.67 + 26.67=193.34

Therefore, final price on bill = Rs. 14500+Rs.193.34=Rs. 14,693.34
