Expert Answer
Coefficient of restitution e of collision is ratio of relative velocity u after impact  to the relative velocity v before impact .

e = v / u

if the ball is dropped from height H = 10 m , velocity u  when the ball just hits the ground ,
or just before impact  is given as

begin mathsize 14px style u space equals space square root of 2 space g space H end root end style
After impact , if the ball is raised to a  height h = 2.5 m , velocity v after impact  is given as

begin mathsize 14px style v space equals space square root of 2 space g space h end root end style

Then coefficient of restitution  e is

begin mathsize 14px style e space equals space v over u space equals space square root of h over 10 end root space equals space square root of fraction numerator 2.5 over denominator 10 end fraction end root space equals space 0.5 end style
