How to find the 6 figure grid reference of a topographical map using a ruler?

To write the six figure grid reference of any object given in topo sheet, first write the given two no. of eastings of the object. Then for third number, take the ruler and measure the third digit from the left last eastings (the red line of the grid). Measure it into milimeters. Then divide that number by 2. This will be the third number. After writing three digits of eastings, write two digit of the last northings and then from the bottom of the last northing, measure the distance to the object with a ruler in mm. Then divide that resultant distance by 2. This will give you the sixth number of the grid.
