Case 1: Repetition not allowed
A number is even when its unit's digit is even.
So, we have 3 choices for unit's place.
We have 7 choices for ten's place
6 choices for hundred's place
5 choices for throusand's place
Total number of ways = 3 x 7 x 6 x 5 = 630 ways
 
Case 2: Repetition allowed
A number is even when its unit's digit is even.
So, we have 3 choices for unit's place.
We have 8 choices for ten's place
8 choices for hundred's place
8 choices for throusand's place
Total number of ways = 3 x 8 x 8 x 8 = 1536 ways
