CBSE Class 12-science Answered
HOW CAN THE OUTPUT RESISTANCE BE HIGH?
Ro=Vce/Ic
here Ic is in order of 10^-3 amperes then when we divide it would become a constant * 10^3 ohms
then too it is given that the resistance will be in the order of 10^5 ohms
pls give the answer as soon as possible iam greatly confused.

Expert Answer
The output resistance is given as
Here, VCE is the collector-emitter voltage.
This voltage is applied in reverse biased state. So, in order for transistor to work IC should be large enough.
In other words, we can say that since the collector-emitter junction is reverse biased, it offers a large resistance to the flow of current.
Hence, the output resistance will be very high.
Now, if VCE = 10 V and initially IC = 0.1 A, then we have
Hence, the higher order of resistance is due to reverse bias of the collector-emitter junction.
