how C4 plants are able to tolerate water stress condition?

C4 plants show the presence of closely packed mesophyll cells which reduce the intensity of solar radiation and make proper utilization of asvailable water. As a result, C4 plants are able to tolerate water stress condtions and are able to operate even in less water.
