CBSE Class 10 Answered

hello sir ,please clear my doubt A ray of light travelling in air falls on the surface of a  transparent glass slab at an angle of 60° with the normal to the surface.find the angle made by the refracted ray with the normal within the glass slab.Refractive index of the glass slab is square root of 2. Thank You

let i is angle of incidence, r is angle of refraction and μ is refractive index of material of slab.

sin i / sin r = μ    hence  sin r = sin i / μ = sin 60/√2 = √3/(2√2) = 0.612

r = sin-1(0.612) ≈ 38°
