If wires of same material , equal lenth and equal diameter are connected as four sodes of square as shown in left side figure,
then each side hase same resistance R . Total resistance of side AB and BC is 2R .
Similarly , total resistance of side AD and CD is 2R
Across the corner points A and C , we have total resistance 2R of sides AB and BC is in parallel to total resiatnce 2R of side AD and side CD.
Hence effective resistance across A and C is R
