Let u be the initial velocity and a is uniform acceleration . Distance S travelled in a time t is given by

S = ( u t ) + (1/2) a t2

Let u be initial velocity and V be the velocity after travelling a distance S with uniform acceleration a.

Distance S is determined from the following equation of motion

v2 = u2 + ( 2 a S )
