The artificial indicators are made of various chemicals. Phenolphthalein, methyl orange are examples of artificial indicators.

Yes, the strength and concentration of the indicators is significant.

The purpose of indicator is to indicate whether the solution is acidic or basic. Indicator does not change the strength the acid or base solution but it will have different colours in solutions of different strengths. like phenolphthalein is colourless in acidic solution but pink in basic solution.
