pH is the negative logarithm of hydrogen ion concentration.

Its function is to measure the strength of hydrogen ions in a solution.

It is used to identify whether a solution is acidic, basic or neutral solution. If the value of pH for a solution is less than 7, the solution is acidic. If the value of pH is equual to 7, the solution is a neutral solution and if the solution is greater than 7, then the solution is basic in nature.
