As shown in figure, let a particle moves in a circular motion. Let at time t1 the angular position be φ1 and later at tme t2 the angular position is φ2. The angular displacement Δφ = φ2 - φ1 during the time interval t- t1.
We define the average angular velocity ωav of paticle in this time interval as
