Construct a rhombus, the lengths of whose diagonals are 7 cm and 9 cm.

We know that the diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other at right angles.

Let AC = 9 cm and BD = 7 cm

 

Steps of construction:

 

i) Draw AC = 9 cm.

 

ii) Draw the perpendicular bisector XY of AC, meeting AC at O.

 

iii) From O, cut off OB = (7 cm) = 3.5 cm along OY and OD  = (7 cm) = 3.5 cm along OX.

 

iv) Join AB, BC, CD and DA.

 

ABCD is the required rhombus.
