Nervous system uses electrical impulses for its functioning whereas endocrine system uses chemical communication.
Nervous system is very fast and rapid in its action whereas hormonal mechanism is much slower.
Nervous system requires the cells to be connected by nervous system. In endocrine system, the hormones are released through blood and do not require any specialised cells to transmit its message. Feedback mechanisms play an important role in hormonal control.
Nerve cells cannot continuously create and transmit electrical impulses. After each impulse, the cell needs time to reset its mechanism. Chemical communication on the other hand can be done steadily and persistently.
