Given Network of resistors is redrawn in Step-1 as shown in figure so that it is easy to understand
the parallel-series combinations. As we see in Step-1 , top three resistors of equal resistance R are in parallel.
Hence equivalent resistance R/3 of three equal resistors is replacing the three resistors in step-2 of figure.
From step-2 , we see that if resitance is measured across A and B ,
then we have series combination of R/3 and R is in parallel to resistance R as shown in step-3.
Hence Effective resistance Reff = [ (R/3) + R ] || R = (4/3)R || R = [ (4/3)R × R ] / [ (4/3)R + R ] = (4/7) R
If effective resistance (4/7)R = 1 Ω , then resistance R of each resistors is given as R = (7/4) Ω
