Expert Answer:

In a pure semiconductor, at room temperature, the no. of intrinsic charge carriers is very small. So it is a low conductivity material. The number of electrons is always equal to number of holes. It is never possible to have either largeno. of conduction electrons only or large no. of conduction holes ony.
