In the given circuit same current will flow through R1 and R2 .
 
Voltage drop across R2 will be greater than voltage drop across R1 because resistance value of R2 is greater than that of R1
 
Hence statements (1) and (2) in the given questions are wrong.
 
 
In statements (3) and (4) , I asssume the phrase "it will read " refers reading of voltmeter connected across R2 .
 
 
If resiistors are connected parallel as shown above , voltmeter read the full battery voltage.
 
If restsors are connected in series as in given circuit , voltmeter will read partial voltage drop across R2
 
Hence the correct answer is statement (4) :- in series wit R1 and R2 it will read less than in parallel with R1 and R2
