Here v=0 m/s and u= 40m/s

K.E= ½ m u2

=1/2x 5000x40 x40= 5000x20x40              

= 4x 106J

Thus, when the truck is travelling with velocity of 40 m/s its kinetic energy is 4x 106J. 
while, when the truck comes to rest the kinetic energy of the truck becomes zero.
