answered-by-expert Expert Answer
average speed = distance / time

distance = ( 30 + 40 + 26 ) km = 96 km

time = 3 hr

average speed = 96 km/3 hr = 32 km/hr

average velocity = displacement / time

From the given information, the motion appears in straight line without changing any direction .

hence displacement and distance are equal

Hence average velocity = 32 km/hr
