Dear Student,

We know that, osmotic pressure is represented by,

Π = CRT

Isotonic so, Π of urea solution = Π of x solution

C1RT = C2RT

C1 = C2

1 dm3 = 1L

C of urea = 10 g / 60 g      ( mol wt of urea = 60 g)

C of x = (5 × 1000) / (mol. wt of x × 100)

10 / 60 =  (5 × 1000) / (mol. wt of x × 100)

Solving,

Mol. wt of x = 300 g
