The picture shows the mosquito showing flip of their tails towards the bottom or protective areas. This is the time the mosquito changes into an adult. It is called as pupal stage which is a resting, non-feeding stage. The mosquito pupa is comma-shaped. The head and thorax are merged into a cephalothorax, with the abdomen curving underneath. At one end of these curved bodies is the large head and at the other end is the flippers used for swimming.
