Figure shows the forces acting on the block of mass 5 kg .
Weight mg is acting downward , where m is mass of block and g is acceleration due to gravity.
Tension force T is acting along the string .
At equilibrium , T = m g = 1.5 × 9.8 = 14.7 N
Force acting on string by block = mg = 14.7 N
Force acting on block by string = T = 14.7 N
