12> A block of mass 1.5 kg is hanging from rigid support by a string. What is the force exerted by the (i) block on the string  (ii) string on the block (g = 10 m/s^2)

Figure shows the forces acting on the block of mass 5 kg . 
Weight mg is acting downward , where m is mass of block and g is acceleration due to gravity.
 
Tension force T is acting along the string .
 
At equilibrium , T = m g = 1.5 × 9.8 = 14.7 N
 
Force acting on string by block = mg = 14.7 N
 
Force acting on block by string = T = 14.7 N
