why Time is taken on x axis why not on t axis

The quantities which are independent variable is always plotted on the x-axis. For example in velocity-time graph the time is independent variable i.e it does not depend on velovcity and no matter what happenss to the velocity the time will always move forward. Similarly for distance time graph time is independent variale whereas distaance is dependent variable. Time progresses uniformly. Hence those quaantities which does not depends on the seond vriable is plotted on x-axis.
