Expert Answer
Inertia is a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion,
unless the state is changed by an external force.
Example :-
Let us consider a car which is at rest. The car will not move unless some external force pushes the car or
its own engin is switched on and the engine gives force to move.
Leu us consider again the car is in motion due to force given by engine. When the engine is switched off, the car is continuing its motion .
Speed of car is slowly reducing and it finally comes to rest because of friction force between ground ant tyre.
If friction force is negligibe, car continues in its state of motion with constant speed.
If it is required to stop the motion of car , break is to be applied which is also a frictional force acting on wheel to stop the car.
