CBSE Class 11-science Answered

Why they have used 2mgcosQ,  what is the logic behind that? The centrifugal force should be equal  to the twice the mass of bob,why they use that.

If you look closely at the figure, the centrifugal force is not taken into account.
The balancing has been done with the vertical component of the tension with the weight of the bob.
As the angle with the vertical is θ, the vertical component will be 2mgcosθ which is balanced by the weight mg of the bob.
Hence, 2mgcosθ = mg will give you the value of θ.
