Why should we preserve food properly?

If we do not preserve food properly, then the food becomes spoilt by the action of microorganisms. Microorganisms that grow on our food sometimes produce toxic substances. This makes the food poisonous causing serious illness and even death. Hence, it is important to preserve food properly to prevent it from being spoilt.
