Given circuit connecting parallel plates is given in fig.1 . Let us mark the plates as a,b,c and d. Similarly terminals X and Y.
 
It can be seen from fig.2, given circuit connecting parallel plates can be redrawn so that the circuit is
two parallel plate capcitors are connected in parallel.
 
If A is area of each plate and d is the distance nbetween parallel plates,
 
Then equivalent capacitance = [ εo A /d ] + [ εo A /d ] =  2εo A /d
