Group of compounds of sulphur with one or more metals are called sulphides.

The metals that occur most commonly in sulphides are iron, copper, nickel, lead, cobalt, silver, and zinc.

Examples:

Zinc sulphide (ZnS), Iron disulphide (FeS2)

Both Al2O3.2 H2O (bauxite) and Na3AlF6(Cryolite) contain aluminium metal in them. But bauxite is used to extract aluminium metal but not Cryolite. Why?
