Difference between living and non-living things
 
Living Things Non-living Things
Made up of cells. Lack cellular structures.
Exhibit metabolism, i.e. anabolism and catabolism. Do not exhibit metabolism.
Growth is by cell division, i.e. addition of new protoplasmic material. Growth is by the addition of similar kind of material.
Movement in living things is brought about by any change in the orientation of any part of the body.

Movement in non-living things is brought about by external forces. Example, movement of vehicles, rotation of the earth, etc.

They have the ability to reproduce similar individuals. Do not reproduce.
A pattern of life cycle is found in living things. There is no such phenomenon in non-living things.
