What is an electric line of force? Mention the properties of electric lines of force.

An electric line of force is a smooth curve drawn in the electric field so that the tangent at any point on the curve gives the direction of electric field at that point.

Properties:

  1. Lines of force are continuous curves, which start from a positive charge and end on a negative charge.
  2. No two lines of force can intersect each other.
  3. Field lines do not form any closed loops.
