Figure shows the charges of qual magnitude placed at the corners of triangle .
Forces acting on unit charge at centre O is given as
where K is Coulomb's constant and d is the distance between vertex and centre of triangle.
Resultant of FB and FC is acting along +y-axis direction as shown in figure.
Magnitude of resultant of FB and FC is given as
FB + FC = 2 × K × ( q / d2 ) × cos60 = K × ( q / d2 )
force FA acting along -y-axis direction as shown in figure .
Magnitude of FA and resultant of ( FB + FC ) are equal.
Hence Net force acting at centre of equilateral triangle is zero
