The figure below represents the Distance-time graph of motion of two bikes A and B. Study the graphs carefully and answer the following: (a) Which bike was ahead of the other bike initially and by how much distance? (b) Time interval after which bike A overtakes bike B. (c) Distance travelled by bike A when it overtakes bike B.

Expert Answer
(a) At t = 0, bike B is ahead of bike A by 20 km.
(b) ) Bike A overtakes bike B after time t = 89 h.
(c) Assuming that the two bikes meet at 50 km.
Distance travelled by bike A when it overtakes bike B = 80 − 50 = 60 km.
