Bulk modulus K is defined as : K = Pressure / (ΔV/V) .......................(1)
where ΔV is change in volume and V is volume
if R is radius of sphere, V = (4/3)πR3
under compression, if R is getting changed to R-δR, then change in volume V-ΔV is given by
(V-ΔV) = (4/3)π(R-δR)3 = (4/3)πR3 {1 - (δR/R)3 } = (4/3)πR3 {1 - (3δR/R) } ( neglecting higher order of (δR/R) )
(V-ΔV) = V{ 1 - (ΔV/V) } = (4/3)πR3 {1 - (3δR/R) }
hence (ΔV/V) = (3δR/R)..................(2)
Eqn.(1) is rewritten using eqn.(2)
K = [ (mg)/A ] / (3δR/R)
hence δR/R = (mg) / (3AK)
