Roots of the equation (x2 + ax + 20)(a2 + 17x + b) = 0 are negative integers and we required a + b should be minimum.
Hence, a and b each should be minimum.
Discriminant of x2 + ax + 20 is a2 - 80 is a perfect square and a is positive integer.
Hence, minimum value of a is 9.
Discriminant of a2 + 17x + b is 289 - 4b is a perfect square and b is positive integer.
minimum value of b is 16.
Hence, the value of a + b is 25.
