when a metallic rod of length l is rotating about an a axis passing through its ends , electrons in the metallic rod are experiencing
centrifugal force mω2l as shown above .
 
where m is mass of electron , ω is angular speed of rotation , l is length of rod
 
workdone to move electron from left end to right end = Force × distance =  ( m ωl ) × l = ( m ωl2 )
 
Potential difference = Workdone / Charge
 
If electron charge is e , then we have  Potential difference = ( m ωl2 ) / e
